My life and disc golf,
I was first introduced to disc golf in high school where we would go play at my local course after working out. I sucked so I didn’t have much of a liking for it and it faded out of my life. Disc golf came back into my life in college which my buddy and I played it as friendly competition. The course next to campus began to get boring which is what lead me to discovery Mt. Airy DGC and that was a huge eye opener to the disc golf community. My addiction began and Mt. Airy became my second home.
My first tournament was in 2016 which is when Jason Kerl walked up to me and asked me why I didn’t play tournaments and told me I should play the one coming up. I’ve been playing for a little over a year by now and was always curious if I was good enough to compete. With that little nudge I signed up for the Queen City Ams and surprisingly won the intermediate division.  I played a couple more tournaments in 2016 and grew fond of the fact that golf requires so much mental fortitude. I moved up to advanced for the 2017 and it took one particularly bad performance for me to realize I have to start putting work in outside of playing rounds to really improve. Field work and putting practice had a quick impact on my scoring on the course and reinforced the idea that I could become pretty good at this disc golf thing.
I look forward to the 2018 season where I can represent Team Nati and see if I can achieve some of my many goals. I’ve made a lot of friends in this community and disc golf has become a really big part of my life. Even though I’ve began my engineering career after college I plan on working hard on my disc golf game and trying to get that rating up! Thanks to Jason Kerl and Adam Jones for giving me this awesome opportunity to be a part of the team.
