My life and Disc Golf: I am 28 years old, born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio. I grew up playing all the major sports (basketball, baseball, football). My love for athletics and the outdoors is what led me to discover and ultimately fall in love with Disc Golf! I grew up 5 minutes from Mt. Airy park. My best friend and I played our first round of disc golf there in late 2003. I shot a +25 course par with a single DX Polecat. I was hooked! My friends and I proceeded to play almost everyday, gradually getting better and learning more and more about the sport. When I was lucky I would be at Airy on the same day as the likes of Adam Jones or Matt Blakely. I didn't know them personally but I knew their names and I knew they were good. Watching them play was a treat and gave me hope that one day I could play that well. I didn't know much about the PDGA or tournaments. For the longest time I honestly thought The Flying Pig Open was the ONLY disc golf tournament in the city. I would go up and watch the rounds at Airy but never played in it. FLASH FORWARD After a short hiatus from disc golf, I picked the sport back up in 2014. The Nati Pro Shop was new to Mt. Airy and I was finding myself hooked again! I joined The Cincy DiscGolfers page on Facebook, met a bunch of cool people including Jason Kerl and Adam Jones (finally)! In 2015 I played in my first of what would end up being 5 sanctioned tournaments. Also ventured out and played dozens of new courses! Disc Golf is a huge part of my life and I just want to thank Adam Jones and Jason Kerl for giving me the opportunity to represent Team Nati. I'll do my best to make the city proud and grow the sport! |
