My life and disc golf, I was introduced to disc golf by my dad roughly 7 years ago. At first it was just something to do and I wasn’t very good so I didn’t really wasn’t a big part of my life then. I didn’t know anyone who played and the only course I ever went to was winton woods, and back then I took 3 discs and used a distance driver on almost every hole. Fast forward a few years of off and on playing something just clicked and I fell in love with the sport. I started branching out and playing new course and at times feeling very defeated playing longer courses but that just lit fire to make me want to practice and become a better player. I played my first tournament at Mt. Airy and what can I say, I played some of the worst disc golf ever, but the funny thing was I had a blast doing it. Now about 3 years into playing and playing tournaments, I must say disc golf will always be a part of my life. It helped create a stronger bond with my dad and I and has brought a lot of happiness to my life. I can go play a casual round by myself or with some friends and good or bad day on the course I will always be happy playing. The highlight of my tournament play was in 2016 at the Bowling Green Amateur Championships, I played the best weekend of disc and felt very confident and placed 3rd in Rec. I haven’t played many tournaments since but planning many more in the future. Since moving to Massachusetts, I have been able to throw many rounds with some beginners and it is always exciting to help them improve their game. From simple little adjustments on grip to putting stance and seeing the happiness when they throw a longer drive or make a longer putt. It makes me proud to be a part of the disc golf community and be around people putting in the time and effort to grow the sport and attract new players young and old! In 2018 I will be returning to Cincinnati and look forward to playing the best courses around and want to be more involved with tournaments and helping out on our local courses! Thank you, Adam Jones and Jason Kerl, for making me a part of Team Nati! I am proud to be a part of the team and can’t wait to see what the future brings! |
