Rebecca Cox PDGA# 32917 Cincinnati, OH |
I am 20 years old and I grew up in Amelia, Ohio. I started playing disc golf when I was 8 years old. My dad, David Cox, was a professional disc golfer and my coach. He taught me almost everything I know. I started out throwing one of my dad's old Innova Rocs, which was too heavy for me. We always played at our home course, Woodland Mound. During one of our rounds, we found a 146 gram Innova Leopard in a tree, and I started throwing that instead. When I was 9 years old, I broke the ten and under girls world distance record with a Leopard; I threw it 246.5 feet at the Williamsburg disc golf course. I continued playing in tournaments, improving my game, and raising my rating. By age 16, I was 900 rated. After graduating high school, I moved to Tennessee to focus on furthering my education. Once I graduated college, I moved back and immediately started playing again. In less than two months, I played in 5 PDGA events and my rating jumped 25 points. I look forward to have Team Nati Sponsor me for 2017. I'm excited to see where this next season of disc golf takes me. I'm in love with the game, and I have several goals I hope to reach. |
