My life and Disc Golf: I am 36 years old, married to Stacey McMath and we have 2 lovely children, a daughter, Mackenzie age 5 (aka Mascot) and a son Eli age 1 (nickname to come). On to disc golf, I was introduced to the game in my late 20’s by 2 co-workers who have been playing for years. My first round ever was at Idlewild and I was terrible; had difficulty even throwing 100ft. Even with my struggles, my first time out I had a blast, seeing small improvements as I continued through the round. My co-workers and I continued to play weekly after work and they continually beat me, this is where my competitive nature comes in. I started my research of the game watching teachings and clinic videos on YouTube. In the next couple months I started beating my co-workers and started teaching them the x-step, forehand/backhand forms, disc selection, putting styles. In 2010 I played in my first disc golf tournament, CCS at Idlewild presented by GCDGA. I continued into the tournament scene through the Course Challenge Series and soon PDGA events. I strive to be the best player I can be on an off the course, leading by example. Now that I have a family, I don’t get to play as many tournaments as I would like but I love to help out by teaching and spreading the game to as many people as I can, including my family. I am an active member of Cincy Disc Golfers Group and Plastic Sabbath DGG on Facebook. Thank you to Adam and Jason for giving me the opportunity to represent The Nati in my local and out of town endeavors this year and beyond. |
